someone told me the other day that when towing heavy trailers, it will wear the rear door and make it creek real bad. Have any of you guys that tow trailers and boats with your hummers experience that?

Thanks for all the comments everyone. I really do appreciate all the help. The last thing I want to do is ruin the fun I have with the H2.

Last winter I drove my H2 from Seattle to Wisconsin and back and I was one of the last vehicles allowed on I90 Westbound before they shut down the highway in Minnesota all the way to Wyoming. I saw one pickup, car and truck in the ditch after another, yet the H2 was rock-solid in the very strong wind, blowing snow and ice. I just took my time and never once did the truck ever feel unstable. It was actually fun! The majority of vehicles buried deep in the snow were pickups so the idea of getting rid of the H2 in favor of anything else just to tow and Airstream has little appeal. That adventure made me LOVE my H2.

Never heard of that, something would have to be really wrong to cause that...

^I concur towing should have nothing to do with a creaking door. Unless that frame is tweaked, which shouldn't have been caused by towing.

Indeed.. The hitch & rear frame assembly on an H2 is like a 3/4 ton or 1 ton gm pick up frame on crack.. The rear hitch assembly is made into the rear frame and is very sturdy in comparison..

If you never looked under there, take a look & then go look at a ford, dodge or gm half ton, 3/4 & 1 ton rear frame & hitch assembly.. It is tough to not notice it..

The trucks usually use a class 3 or better hitch assembly that bolts to the frame, the H2 has a HD integrated unit.. The only tow assembly that bolts on that comes close to something that heavily built that I usually see is a class 5 hitch assembly.. Pretty stout stuff & tough to break or tweak.. Not to say that there is not some fool somewhere that can or will break it.. lol.. J
