Questions about changing my ATS fluid/filter.
I have an 05 H2 SUT and am approaching 50K miles. I am wanting to change the transmission fluid and filter. I don't have anywhere to do it myself and need to have someone do it for me. The dealership wants $200 to change it. I can get the Dexron III and filter at AutoZone for around $50. I am thinking about just buying the fluid/filter myself and taking it to Superlube and just paying a small amount of labor to have them do it.
I just have a couple of questions:
1. Is it synthetic fluid in it or regular? I bought it used at 42K miles and doubt it has already been changed.
2. Do I need to change the fluid in the transfer case as well or can I wait til 100K miles?
3. Is there really that much difference between synthetic and regular ATF? I change my fluid and filter every 50K and I don't really tow anything.
4. If I do go synthetic should I also go synthetic in the transfer case?
Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
