Default Question re cranked TB after Bilstein Shocks install

I cranked my H3's T Bar this morning. 6 full turn on passenger side, 4 1/2 turn on driver side. Came out at 23.5 even. Drove few miles sidestreet, then several miles freeway. Re-measured at flat/even surface. Still at 23.5 even. Before lunch, I took the H3 to a shop and had the Bilstein shocks and 1/2 inch bumpstop from Trail Duty installed. I also got alignment.

I just got home. Re-measured the front. It's now at "24.5"

What happened? Is this normal? I'll just turn it back down to 23.5

Do I need to re-align the wheels?

Yes, by readjusting the torsion bars you have also readjusted the suspensions overall geometry. It's either pay for the alignment now or 2 new front tires (and an alignment) later.

The Bilstein gas shocks will sure add something to the height ...but 1" is a lot.

Other members reported 1/4" maybe 1/2"....

Sounds like the "shop" adjusted your T Bars to do their alignment (or while doing your alignment) to me?

Just for discussion sakes, aren't those blisteins gas charged????? If so that could potentially cause lift, but not a whole inch.

u can look up shocks on wiki or,,,? and see how they work.
since they are all gas "filled" now,gas must be cheaper than air,IF its really gas in there,,,who could possibly know?
if they affect ride height they must be stuck,,defective

The Bilsteins are gas filled to a higher PSI than the stock shock rating, (they fill them with gas at night on the grassy knoll ) that is what gives them some of their stiffer feel, but we are talking appx 10-15 PSI more. The purpose is not to provide lift, but will it raise the front of a 5000# truck???? No.

Grab hold of the front tow rings and give what you think is 20, 30, or even 50# of lifting force....... Did the front raise up? Bust a ball and give it what for and see how far it will raise.
