Question about changing gear ratio and ABS
I was told that when you change your gear ratio (ring and pinion), that process disables your ABS brake.
And that you will need a smartchip programmer or other brand to re-activate your ABS.
Is this true?

Two different mechanics, from two different off-road shops told me about the need for a programmer. I was told that changing my ring/pinion to 4.88 will DISABLE my ABS.
I wil be getting that eventually since I want to re-calibrate my speedo to match my 38 tires.
I am changing the gear ratio to 4.88 since I now have 38 tires.

Sadly they are mistaken.... you will want a programmer to recal your speedo.
ABS senses differences in wheel speed and that is it....
Think about it-your abs tone rings are in the hubs. You already changed your tire size essentially changing your final gear ratio.... did you need to do anything to your abs system then...?
