Default Purple H3T? (anybody know its history)

Anybody know the story on this one: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...p;rdpage=thumb

It lists it as being a manufacturer's vehicle and bought at an auction...Do you think it was a GM exec's special request? Wish I were closer, although would like to know the history.

I pulled the VIN through our system and it was a corporate vehicle. So they are being truthful.

Hope this helps with any questions.

Thanks for the info

(I typed a response the other day then it disappeared, I hate that)

It would be interesting to know if this was going to be an optional color (H2 had it available, I believe) or a 'custom' exec's truck or something. Without documentation, I wouldn't want to have to explain it is the original paint and how rare it is and such. I should contact them, but chances are they will know nothing other than trying to sell me the truck If it were closer, I would check it out and may consider it, but that is alot of miles for a new truck (2009) and would require a steep discount, he he.

The color is an available production color. No special paint job, just factory.

Oh really? Interesting. I'll have to look into that (I like that color and would've gotten it on my GTO, but was only available in '04 and I got an '06).

Hmmm, wonder why Hummer doesn't show it on their website?

That isn't a production color for the H3 or H3T at least not that I can find for 2009. The only colors I can find are black, birch white, all terrain blue, victory red, boulder gray, solar flare metallic, carbon metallic, and graphite metallic

Yes, it is a production color, it is paint code 66U Sonoma Red Metallic and only available on the H3T Alpha, either cloth or leather.

And on the H3X package on the regular H3.

I don't think that one is red though (I know which red you are referring, looks like a burgundy/maroon);this onelooks awfully purple and similar to the H2 (2006-ish color). I've seen that color (red) in another autotrader advertisement and it was clearly different. Now, it is possible the photo is misleading or something. At an angle, where it was darker, it looks more like that red. But, straight on with refelction, sure looks purple. My eyes aren't that bad, right, lol?

Sure be nice to find out 100% though. Surely somebody here lives local and can check it out
