Default Problem with high fuel consumption

Hi! My name is Stefan from Sweden, I have recently bought a Hummer H3 -06 with a 3,5 engine.
I have problem with high fuel consumption. I filled the tank and droved 62 miles, then I filled it again and I got 6,8 gallons.
Something most be wrong? The car is running ok and I get no message that anything is wrong.

Do anyone know what the problem is?

/Stefan

I also have an 06 with 3.5L engine, I get about 14miles/gallon nowadays but car is 5 years old and I do mostly traffic driving, very little highway if at all. However, your's is bellow 10 so sounds kida low. Are you heavy footed? the H3 burns a lot more gas when you attempt to accelerate quickly, be easier on the peddal. Also if you live in the mountains and drive through hills that could be affecting it. Try putting some fuel injector cleaner, has the car had a tuneup recently ?

If your getting 9.12 mpg there must be something wrong. I have the 2006 with the 3.5 with 58000 miles and I get 18.5 MPG traveling the hills and mountains on the Interstate located in Northern New York State at 65 to 70 MPH. I get around 15 mpg in town.
A little off subject: The vehicles today have so much electonics, valves and switches tracking down a problem is tough. Sometimes you have a problem and the computer shows no codes. I had a car that someone spent $2000.00 trying to track down a problem they were hooking up computers, codes were showing up and they changed many parts and no fix. I bought the car cheap and did a close visual check and it was a bare wire shorting out. The electronics are great when they work.

Missed that one, I was down the East Coast a few hundred miles in MD with the Hummer. You work for the USGS?
