Lowest price I could find here. http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=18688

My question is can Onstar still be used with it and do all the bells and chimes still work after it's installed?

ORIGINAL: solarflare

I'm thinking of buying one, and was wondering if it is worth the $$$? I have the factory nav unit now.....what are the features that would make me want the pioneer avic?

I have some comments about my AVIC-D3 system
I have now been using this unit for about three months and it all works OK.
However, if you really care about customer feedback, I do have some comments
First off, the copy to read for radio or XM and the navigation is too small to read.
I find there is too much superfluous information on the screen.
When listening to XM all copy is too small to read at a glance. You even have small
volume numbers that pop up when you turn the volume control.
These are blocked by the hand you use to turn the volume, so why have them at all ?
The clock at the upper left side of the screen again is too small to read at a glance and
has even smaller XM symbols below and to the right of the time.
I have no idea why you must have this information twice within less than a
half of a inch of each other and not just display a larger view of the digital time

The copy for street & roads is small and grey, not black, again hard to read.
Few road names show up at all at maximum magnification.

Having to press "OK" when switching over to map navigation display seems unnecessary.
DOT nor FCC requires this.
My GMC H3 has no such requirement and it has factory navigation, same with my BMW

In fact the 2007 GMC H3 has a very legible navigation and radio display all in the
same size screen. When driving you want copy to be quickly read and identified
For safety reasons this alone should be of concern
Please take a look.

i have the avic3 in my dodge magnum, and i have the kenwood 512 in my hummer..........................both are good units, but if i had to choose i would choose the kenwood. The whole interface is just cleaner, its easier to navigate, and is just a better unit ( let it be known that ive always been a kenwood fan because of their quality and options offered on their units, and ive always heard bad things aboutpioneer from people who do installs for a living).....BUT, it does not offer Nav, but does offer a USB port which can be used for numerous things....i paid 600 for the avic 3, and 600 the kenwood 512.

Pioneer looked at my unit and are going to upgrade the maps, which was due to be done anyway and if that doesn't fix the problems then they will replace the unit.

Couldn't be any fairer than that.
