Pinging Noise in Brake Pedal - Help
Hi there,
I am experiencing a pinging noise when I press my breaks and it happens when I release the break pedal as well. The dealership finally heard the noise, but are unable to figure out what the probelm is. Any thoughts on what this could be? Basically, it sounds like a guitar string pulled really tight. It happens most of the time, but seems to be more frequent when I have been driving for a while.
I would appreciate any thoughts you can share!!

I'm sure she will come back from nearly 3 years ago to answer your question.

I will answer it. There is a return spring on the brake pedal that is wound around a shaft. If you stand on your head you can kind of see it. The spring is binding up and a little lube will fix it for a while. Good Luck

Sorry for not responding sooner, but just now logged back into the site. The last poster is correct, it is the return and the dealership (former Hummer dealership) says they put some insulation in the pedal area and it fixed it. That was then, but now it is doing it again. They wouldn't listen to me when I told them repeatedly that it was the return. Probably because they wouldn't expect a girl to know that. I no longer go there.
