Default Painting roof rack bars

Is it possible to paint the rood rack bars? I want black and they are the chrome or whatever they are..

There has to be something that will stick with some sort of prep...

If you lived close enough to me I'd trade you my black ones. Not sure where you're at but I'm in Florida.

Mine were the brushed aluminum looking finish. I am not sure what you could do Jeremy. Someone might be able to powder coat them for you.

1st I need to make sure I have the key and I could shrink wrap them up and fed ex them to you, then send yours back to me. Much cheaper than powder coating.

I'll give Jdrew a shot at em first, I'd like to see what they would look like on my rigto be sure, but if it doesn't work outfor Jdrew, I'll consider trading you my aluminum racks for your black ones. I live in Clermont Florida. I was considering powder coating mine, but was never in a big rush not a high priority for me.

No problem. I wanted to get a set of rearsets for my GSXR powdercoated because I wanted them in black but the cost was 1/2 the price of buying a set new and they need to be cleaned to new condition so that the powdercoating sticks.I'll be in the Orlando area a fewtimes in the next 2 months so if you're still up for it let me know. I found 1 e003 key anyway.

I think it would be pretty easy to scuff them and paint them.... Powder Coat would be the best... but there is no reason you couldn't take them to MAACO and get them done for under $100.

I wouldn't paint them for the simple fact that if you do put anything on the racks and slide them off, there goes the paint. I would try rhino lining or duralast if anything because it gives a protective coat that's durable. But ideally, trading with someone that wants silver and has black is the best idea... LOL
