Default Painted Center Caps

I saw someone do this in an earlier thread and decided to give it a shot. 10 bucks and an hour later.....

That actually looks pretty awesome I might have to do that. What type of paint did you use?

I did the same to mine but with vinyl adhesive lettering I found on Ebay. I don't remember the cost however. Looks nice.

I used Krylon for plastic gloss black and a roll of painters tape. I put the tape over the letters and then with an exacto knife cut out the letters. 3 coats of paint and let it dry over night. Make sure if you try this that you clean the letters out very well. I used alcohol and cotton *****. Apparently I didnt clean one of the E's out well and the paint didnt adhere effectively. I used a Testor's paint pen to clean up that part and it looks good. Only time will tell if the paint holds up to the elements. Will keep you updated.

With the caps being plastic, I would recommend scuffing the surface with a bit of sand paper first. Nothing too heavy but enough to lightly scratch the surface. I painted my hubs orange using a rattle can.

But rather than me taping and painting, I sprayed the paint in the cap and used a small paint brush and brushed it on. I would imagine that could be another option instead of taping off the whole cap. Not trying to steal the thread, but just opening up other options.

Looks like it came out great!
