Paint Differences

Paint Differences
Hi Guys and Gals. I'm new to the site and a new Hummer owner. Since I bought my new toy I've dropped a small fortune on all the "extras" but have a simple question that I can't seem to figure out. I'm not sure if my vehicle is Boulder Gray or Silver Birch Metallic. It looks like both colors and was wondering if there was a difference or just a name swap of paint colors. I have a 2008 Hummer H3 so any info anyone can provide would help me out a bunch.

There were two colors in the "gray" family for 2008 H3's. One of them is Boulder Gray Metallic and the other one is Graphite Metallic.
Boulder Gray is much lighter and is closer to white than Graphite Metallic. Graphite Metallic is much darker but is still fairly gray.
You can find more about paint colors elsewhere on the forum but one thing is for sure if you have a 2008 H3 you definitely don't have Silver Birch becasue it was not offered on the H3 in '08.

Welcome to the forum, Lance_214
You are correct the names are different, but the colors are similar
I have an 07 and my color is Bolder Gray Metallic WA926L
I believe the same color was called Silver Birch Metallic on the 06 models
The best thing to do is to check the tag on the glove compartment box and in the lower
corner of the tag it will have your color code.
If you have no tag, any dealer can scan your VIN and give you the factory color
Bottom line the name of color means nothing, the code is the actual color.
Thanks for getting the best color, in my opinion [sic]

I have an 08' alpha I just purchased a few months ago. I'm guessing it is Graphite metallic as this was a new color for the 08' line. As suggested, I also need to look at the build sheet to be sure. Dark metallic at night and grey in the sunshine. Whatever, I love the color. Welcome aboard.

I've got a 2008 dealer brochure with paint color chips and names. I scanned it, but don't know how to attach a file (as opposed to a picture) on the forum. If it's any help there was a 'Boulder Gray Metallic' that is almost tan in color, a 'Graphite Metallic' that is a dark gray, and a 'Carbon Flash Metallic' that is a very dark gray and was exclusive to the H3X.

I also bought their clear coat spray too
Remember, don't get hung up on just paint names. GM does what GM does
