Default Our truck just got totalled!

We weren't hurt, it was parked in front of our house where it was hit head-on by a drunk neighbor. To make matters even worse, wifey is balking at picking up a used H3 as a replacement.

What to do?

I pray to God that I'll be back here very soon!

Glad you were not in it at the time. Thats why I never park on the street if I can avoid it. If she wont go for an H3, an H2 would be a good replacement!

This one would be awesome with some de-chroming! Kelley Blue Book

Here in the North East, the lower mileage H3 selection is really starting to dwindle. Alphas are really rare, it's a 100 mile trip for me just to look at it.

That's an H3X, even more chrome to de-bling than a normal H3.
I really hate those clamshell spare tire covers.

Sorry to hear about your loss. A neighbor, WTF? At least no one in your family was injured. The H3X most likely will not have been used OffRoad. That's a positive! Also, the clamshell spare cover is worth $500 on craigslist and I just sold a set of H3X rims for $750. More blackout/mod $ or you.

If you are interested in a low mile replacement you may have to drive way more than 100 miles to get one. Heck, both of our current H3/H3Ts came via carrier from far away to get very clean low mile rigs. One came from AZ and the other is from CO. We live in MI.

If you find a rig fat from home and have a buddy who lives near and is a "car guy" or better yet a "HUMMER guy" have them check out the rig from top to bottom for you as well as test driving it on some really rough roads to check for issues.

You are worried about a 100 mile trip to look at a car

I travel further than that just to do my weekly shopping or to buy milk.

Closest servo to my place is 70 miles one way, and its too hard to travel 100 miles to buy a car

Last car I bought I travelled about 600 miles one way 1200 return.

Buying a used car in New Jersey isn't a lot of fun. Here, "Mint Condition" is seller's slang for "Pulled out of a Swamp".

All the more reason to look "abroad" down south.

Not much different here, good used can mean been sitting in a paddock rusting away for 5 years

Default We're back in the family!

Not an Alpha but with only 18k miles and all options, we couldn't pass this 2009 Lux one bye. Overall, a decent upgrade from our 2006. The funny thing is that I thought it was black when we bought it because of "chrome blindness". Imagine my surprise yesterday when a cloud passed overhead and I suddenly realized it's Carbon Metallic instead!

I really liked the look and functionality of our old Boulder Gray/matt black trimmed truck, time to start dechroming!
