Oil Pressure?

Oil Pressure?
Just recently purchased my '06 h2 SUT, and am curious...is the oil pressure guage supposed to go the entire way up to the "80" on the guage or is there a problem?! In my previous vehicles, the pressure only averaged in the middle of the guage. !...btw...still looking for that tanneau cover!...have searched hi and lo..U.S and Canada..can't even find a vendor to make an aftermarket one. All of us H2'ers are SOL...H3'ers...better get them while u can!

OP?
That's kind of what I was thinking but I don't know my truck well enough yet. Have it scheduled to be checked but wanted someone who knows Hummers opinion before I took it in and they told me it was just a "dummy" reading. It goes immediately up the entire way to the end of the guage as soon as you start it, so I don't want to end up on the side of the road! Thanks for your help!

OP?
For those interested, in case you ever have the same issue, took my SUT to the garage today. The guage is fine, the engine is ok, I need a pressure sending unit? I think thats what they told me! Its a sensor of some sort. Being a girl, I do know some things, but not all, so I think I am remembering correctly! Luckily, warranty is covering it! But the pressure is definately not supposed to read clear up at the top of the guage!!! Thanks for your input!!

Thanks for the disposition. Sometimes folks dont post this which is the most important I too have the same problem. After 120000 miles, the gauge just popped to the right at 80psi and stayed there. I was like "holy crap!!". I just continued to drive it and watched the temp and the rear view mirror to see if oil was spewing from my seals with all the excess pressure. Highly unlikely I will probably try the sender first as it is the least expensive to replace. I cant imagine what the gauges would cost. Thanks again for the information!!!
