Default off roading--flares on rear door-- FYI

Just a warning for you other folks who like to play in the dirt. ( like me! ) I have the 07 Adventure package with the 33s and mud flaps all around. I just came back from my second desert trip involving dirt roads, dry washes, gravel, and some nasty trails. On my first trip I went over some steep departure angles and scraped my side steps so I removed them for this trip. Big mistake! My first trip I had no nicks or pits on the paint, going to the same areas I went on this trip. On this triprocks and gravel from the front tires peppered nicks into the paint on the rear door flares big time. I guess the side steps protected the flares the first time. Anyhow, be aware. The side steps reduce clearance slightly, but protect the paint.

Another thing that protects the paint but doesnt affect the ground clearance is the 3M Clear Bra plastic. I have it on the sides of mine and fenders to protect from bursh scratches.
