I've been out of the 4x4 off-road world for a decade. Looking to get back in with a Daily Driver that can do off-road adventures and camping.

I like the H3 Adventure pkg,but it's hard to tell buying used what models are what. If I see the Locker button on the dash, does that model have the 4:1 transfercase? Was the locker option available on non-adventure pkg H3's?

If you have factory locker/lockers, you have the 4:1 transfer case. Lux and Adventure pkgs. could be combined but was never offered as a stand alone option.

 

Does the H3 Alpha have it? 2008

 

If you have factory rear lockers on your 08 then you to have a 4:1 transfer case. FYI, on the Alpha, the Adventure Package is called the Offroad Package.

 

The Adventure package was only available on the I5 equipped H3/H3Ts.

The OffRoad package was only available on the V8 (Alpha) equipped H3/H3Ts.

In 08 there was also the "Alpha/Lux/Offroad" cause I got one of the gaudy things with all the stuff that they can slap on there but had the chrome swapped off. At that time it was rumored that it might be the last one the local dealer was going to order and possibly the last year to be made and it came from their dealership 150 miles away. (now we know different) but it was the last they got as they were less than happy with GM cancelling their order.
A little trivia;
That was the year I ordered the proposed Championship secret addition but after a couple of months was told it was delayed because American Axle was on strike.
I wanted the Alpha but with breathable cloth not sweaty leather which on the drivers side now looks terrible from blue jeans sliding in and out. lol I did not want all the added trim and bolt on stuff!
I decided I better grab this one while I could and make it a HUNNER EDITION!
I also got secret info about the front locker and ability to stuff one in the 08 Alpha so new I could upgrade if I thought I needed that.

 

Hunner, the "Lux" portion is already a part of the Alpha Package on the 08-10 H3s. The only available Alpha "Base" was on the 2009-2010 H3Ts.

That's why you will see H3Ts with V8s and Cloth (black mirrors, door handles, etc).

As far as the leather, I have the Leather Driver Seat Replaced under warranty @ just below 50K!
