Duratracs are great in the snow. If you live in such an area, they are worth the extra cost.

Default tires lasto long, imo!

edit, I meant "tires last too long"
why cant I fix that f up in the heading?
so

id rather have cheaper tires that wear out sooner and maybe have better traction rubber. then I wont need to loose a lot itide to try something else. or don't neewait 5-? years for them to wear out!
my stack 285's look new at 40000. I stuck my key in the spare and then another tire and could barely see any wear.

I don't rotate either and it handles the same. id like to wear them out and try maybe the duratracs and also go back to 265 where I got better mileage on my first h3.
I hear better traction rubber wears faster, makes sense to me.

I have driven this thing with the buckshot mudders on it in snow ice rain and dry. Very good tires in all conditions. They do make a little noise but it is not bad with the windows rolled up. The traction in the snow and ice is nothing short of unreal and while teaching my daughter who is 14 how to drive in snow and ice it gives a real false state of security. She kept saying it is not slippery, it is not bad and it was very bad out. My wife said we need to teach her in something other than the hummer. lol

Too funny! Give her an old rwd sedan and see what happens. My wife's Kia Sedona barely made it home while I had to try to not get traction.

Just fitted OEM size 265-75-16 Bridgestone Dueller At 697 .. I don't think you guys have this tire in the States. So far excellent, silent , supple and huge grip in all conditions.
Aussies swear by it , so let's wait and see

I just put a set of Kenda M/Ts on mine. I had never heard of them before, but after some net research everything I read was good. And they were about half the price of the Terra Grapplers they were replacing. Haven't had any tough terrain or snow under them yet, so can't talk about that. But just did a 1200 mile highway trip with rain and they did great.

Nice songman, just curious. What tire pressure do you have in them?

Running at 36psi for street use. They are not loud at all and honestly, I can't tell any difference than in the Nittos that they replaced... except that all four, mounted and balanced and out the door was less than $650. The extra weight in my wallet makes the ride feel REALLY nice!

My first set were 285/75/16, but after a while I wanted bigger tires so I went to 315/75/16's for my second set.
The 285's had about 20,000 miles on them and they still looked almost new.
Threw them up on Craigslist and they sold to the first guy that looked at them for my full asking price.

I'd get another set without question.
Hey Bunger,

Did you experience any drop in towing power when you went up to the 315's? What about any scraping on turns? I am undersized right now with a 265/75/16 and am going to go up to either a 285 or 315. Thanks

I thought about going to 315 when I got my new ones. Supposedly, there are no issues, as long as you have leveled your H3. I parked next to someone with 315s and honestly, didn't see enough difference to justify the upgrade. The look is not all that drastic, but the price is higher and it will drop your mpg even more. Not sure about towing or power.
