Default New head unit and GPS install questions

I hope you can help its been a little difficult to get some info on an install I'm doing for an aftermarket head unit and GPS system. I'm fairly handy but this will be my first attempt at this kind of project and I was hoping with your contacts here on the site you might be able to point me in the right direction for some answers.

This is the head unit with the GPS module

This is the Harness I purchased to retain OnStar and chime functions

The instructions that were provided were very loose in terms of placement and connections based on general application not specific to the H3. The head unit is pretty straight forward along with the harness(I think) On the outset my problem seems to be placement for the GPS unit and where to best route and install the antenna. Any tips or pointers would be of great help to me thanks for your time.

Your links are not showing up for me,but the install is very easy.I just installed a Pioneer 4100dvd into my H3 in less than 15 min.I put the module for the onstar right on top of the head unit because there is plenty of room and its easy to get to.As for your gps it all depends on the length of your cables. I have installed these in the dash or under the dash mounted to the fire wall, under the seat or in the trunk/cargo area.Depending on the style of antenna it comes with it could be hidden or mounted on the dash,or a window.Sorry I can't be more specific but I'm not looking the exact components. As for the headunit install and the onstar module they have color coded wires, just match the colors together and your done.you can't go wrong with crutchfield they can answer just about any questions you have.Hope I could help some. good luck and enjoy.

I'm Roughnecks wife and he is at work with out a computer. He said that he will try to help you as best as he can.

The 12v and acc. wire will work if you get them from the stereo harness, but you may get some noise for your speakers that way. The GPS antenaa, it does not need to be in line of sight, but works best if is in line of sight. The XM antenaa, I've never used the factory antenaa. I always replaced it with the saterlite unit, it workd better for me in my experance. He'll be home in 2 weeks. Sorry, he can't be a little more specific he's listining it from me. He said if you could e-mail him your phone number, he could call you.
