Default raising the front to level the truck

its true,it takes it out of the manufacturers design spec but everybody but me does it so it works.
ive been here almost 2 years and have not seen one report of a catastrophic failure or smashup because of front end component fatigue and failure,so if its a problem,it takes quite a while to manifest itself.
since hummers are no longer made,i plan to maintain mine in pristine condition, sort of as a reference point for the future.
i had an 07 lux and liked the ride better(and the leather) so i might switch to stock shocks, and 265 tires to get my mileage back to 20. at 460 miles/tank i could make my pittsburgh run nonstop(430!) oh well i dream on

the first thing I did when I bought mine was to adjuste the torsion bars to level the front 1.75". I used the info on this site as a guide; very easy. I have been running this way with 315 and have had NO problems.
One thing I do is put the truck in 3rd for in town driving and D for HWY. The shift points on the HWY are much better with the 315. It does not 'gear hunt' on the interstate anymore.

Yeah I read where people adjusted their torsion bars to level the front. My only concern with that is abnormal wear on the front suspension components (ball joints, tie rod ends, etc).
#1. Michey Thompson Baja MTZs. They are a great mix between a Full-on MT and an Agressive AT. They wear very well if you keep them properly maintained (55K on my last set) and they do everything very well including snow.

#2. There is not a need to level the front of an H3 even to get 315s on and wheel it. I did both of ours for that little bit of clearance while OffRoad. Plus I like the look of a level HUMMER. If you do plan on leveling, DO NOT BY THE KEYs, DON'T GO ABOVE 23.5", GET AN ALIGNMENT AFTER 2-3 days of driving.

Hope this helps ya!

Drtom, how in the world were you getting 20mpgs? haha. I thought 17 was pretty good. Last weekend I took the H3 on an 800 mile round trip to pick up my puppy and I only managed the high 17's with cruise set to 70-75.

I do like the look of a leveled H3 (or any truck for that matter). My Dakota had torsion bars and I leveled it before I lifted it but ended up wearing out the front end components in about 2 years or so of use. Though, the bigger tires probably helped out on the premature wear, too.

Since Im at work and havent looked at the torsion bar adjustment nuts, does anyone know what size they are by chance?

If you live on anything but flat, level land the cruise ends up shifting too much to maintain speed and you will get slightly worse gas mileage. On the other hand, it holds the set speed VERY well!
