Default New H3

We did it. Traded our SSR for a 2008 H3 60 month 100,000 warranty, 24,000 miles, white, black leather interior. The thing glided home at 70 mph. After driving the SSR this is a compliment to the H3. We are excited. We need to talk. One guy says to make sure your mirrors are turned in before going into a car wash with the spinning "fingers".

Me personally I don't bring my h3 to car washes, I take pride in washing my own truck. I feel its just done better that way, automated washing systems only work so well. Aside from that some have said the hood louver or "vent" supposedly flies off when blowers are drying the truck. Others have said they have had issues about mirrors and visor's getting taken off. Car washes are supposed to be time savers but if there is risk of things coming off my truck. Its not worth trying to save a hour or so of my time on a sunny weekend .

congrats on the purchase... car washes? Stay out of them... List of possible issues:
1.) Yes they can rip your mirrors off... especially after get it nice and muddy, bit of sand and dirty make folding them really hard to do...
2.) Hood Louver can be blown off, plastic clips vs jet drying fan...
3.) My antenna now has a lean to it, 70 degrees cause of a car wash
4.) I know someone had their onstar gps reciever detached by a car wash too...

Buy a power/pressure washer and do it yourself...

UGH Car washes are TERRIBLE. They use the cheapest soap that will absolutely destroy your wax and finish on the car. I have also heard that the brushes can really do some nice damage to the sunroof. A friend had a corvette that had a glass top that was so badly scratched after a car wash. They can also take your rim hummer caps off and you wouldn't realize it and drive away.

I used to be a detailer and I can say they will do much more damage than they are worth. DIY.

There are still car washes out there that use the brushes?? Man I have not seen one of those in years! Only ones we have are the touchless ones.

There is one in my town. They look like brillo pads.

Default Cruisin'

We drove our H3 all over heck and back today and yesterday. I am happy to see that it likes to cruise at 70. Say, here is a question. This is an old fashion wivestail, but is it a good idea to put it into 4 wheel drive occasionally just to lubricate parts in the front drive train? Or is this old fashion stuff. Ours will probably be mostly highway traveling, unless my son gets ahold of it.

Like the man said the H3 is 4WD all the time.

There is a school of thought that says its good to cycle through the 4 lock and 4 low periodically (to keep the switches and any moving parts from seizing up) even if you just do it in the garage. Obviously don't drive on tarmac if you are in either of these modes.
