loaded calipers include pads, and semi loaded do not

 

I can recommend Centric brand rotors and pads if you are considering non-GM parts. I've been using them on all of my GM vehicles for the past few years with great success. The rotors have a high quality finish and the pad kits even include all new shims.

 

Napa carries them without the pads(semi-loaded), they still have new hardware..




With loaded calipers, I still take the new calipers apart and lube the slides, pins, and brake pads/mounts/all moving contacts..

Hopefully your workmanship is better than your spelling..

Lift the front, secure with jackstands, and remove both wheels. R&R 1 side at a time, so you can check the other side to make sure everything is reinstalled properly.
Not hard at all. Just make sure to clean/antiseize the hubs(more info here: TopBrakes.com - Learn How to install brake rotors and brake pads right the first time), lube new parts contacts, and gravity bleed and then pump bleed (with the assistance of someone else to depress brake pedal, while you release fluid/air from the hydraulic system).

You will know if you performed the repair properly; 1-high/hard brake pedal (does not travel to low/not "spongy") 2- no noise when braking..

Mötley, now knowing you can do the job yourself for about $200, I would let everyone you know in your local area what a rip off they are. I would like to see the quote because I can't even imagine how they could possibly justify a $1300 single axel brake job.

Yeah, that's right. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone now.

 

However you can call your local auto parts stores and get wholesale prices when you make reference to them.

 

My dealership said that the H3s have a history of having caliper seal leaks when the calipers are compressed to do a brake job, so it's often that the calipers need replacing as well. I'll get quote from my dealership tomorrow and see how much they charge for caliper/rotor/pad replacement on the fronts. I'm curious and I also need a brake job soon. See the picture I took today of my front passenger side pads.
