Never been off-roading

Skeptic,
I am actually in Northern Arizona on the Navajo Reservation. I typically run up to the Southern part of Utah which is only about 45 minutes away. If i ever have the opportunity to run further north, I will let you know.

Hey 3hummers,
I appreciate the info. I don't really know anybody else out here that has a hummer. I guess I will really have to be more considerate of the potential pitfalls when thinking about heading out for a run somewhere. I have never been very mechanical. What are some of the spares that you carry with you? I really enjoy getting out and doing some of the same things that you do. I would hate to get stranded out here. There are a lot of places to go out here but they are pretty remote. I am hoping to get back home to Missouri someday where there is a better balance of people doing things outdoors in the event of a problem. Thanks in advance.

Spoon on the H3 the most common items to replace on the trail are tie rods and half shafts. If you carry those and the tools to swap them out( both very easy ) that will cover the most likely issues you would have. ( yes there are busted diffs, steering racks, etc but they don't happen that often ) There are quite a few Hummer owners and wheelers in AZ. Not sure how far north you are. There is a group of us running a joint AZ/NV/CA trail in early November that is in northern AZ. PM me if you are interested and I will get you the information. It will be all Hummers with lots of experienced drivers. Might be a great run for you to do as a first timer.
