Need a switched 12V+ source under hood
I have been fighting the drained battery problem for some time and have had no luck finding the cause except that it is (partially at least) caused by the radio.
Sometimes, I get as much as 3 amps draw with the ignition off - pull the radio fuse and it drops to about 0.9 amps (which is still enough to drain the battery in short order) - then sometimes, it doesn't have any draw???
I have given up trying to find the problem and have ordered a remote switched battery disconnect switch - I will have installed a "momentary" switch on the dash - it will work like this: Turn on the ignition then push the momentary switch which will energize the relay to activate the disconnect switch (under the hood near the battery). The switched source that I am seeking will hold the disconnect switch closed ("on") until the ignition switch is turned off, at which time the disconnect switch will open - disconnecting the battery from the system. The reason for the momentary switch is to prevent draining the battery if it were a regular switch and were forgotten on.
SOOOOO - If someone can help me locate a "swtched" + 12V source under the hood - it would help me a lot. I have checked just about every fuse in the under-hood fuse block and have had no luck - they have +12V with the ignition on or off.
Help please!!!!
