Default Need help replacing stock 8 in sub?

I am replacing my stock sub i took the sub and noticed it had four wires going to it. The speaker i bought is 8 inch kicker sub and it only has two inputs what wires go where? I nstalled it with one hot wire and ground and it doesnt sound nearly as good as my blown stock sub i turn the bass up and it doesnt sound as good on the door speakers.

Thanks

Is it possible the stock was a dual voice coil sub and you only got a single voice coil?

also the enclosure is build for the stock sub i think the stock sub is not more than 50watts it will not sound good if the sub you got is over 300 watts on a small enclosure

The stock 8" subwoofer with the Monsoon system is a dual voice coil (DVC) subwoofer. The Monsoon Amplifier has 8 channels, 4 front, 2 rear and 2 for the sub.

The amount of power a subwoofer will handle has NOTHING to do with the required box volume. The required box volume is a complicated equation even with a sealed enclosure. It has to do with the speakers paramaters (Vas, Qts, fs, SNR, Xmax, etc).

Check with the manufacturers specs on sealed enclosure volume requirements before you spend the extra $ on a replacement subwoofer. Oh, and buy a dual voice coil (DVC) 8" sub that is shallow enough to fit and has a similar requied volume to the stock enclosure. You can usually squeek out an extra couple of cu in by using polyesther fiber fill.

Good Luck, I have been searching for such a subwoofer for a while now and nothing that fits the enclosure is a DVC and an 8" DVC will require more space than the enclosure affords.

hmm ... what would be the result of wiring both positives and both negatives of the 2 sub channels to one single voice coil???
