Default Need help with rear shackle/leaf spring..

So I ordered the 2.5" rough country leveling kit.. (Waste of time and money I know). I attempted to install tonight.

I followed instructions to a T.. Jacked car up, put on jackstands, removed rear shock, loosened shackle bolts (PITA).

I finally got it... I got the bolts out of the shackle (after an hour of it kicking my ***) and the leaf springs shot up... Now they won't move. I can't even get the stock shackle back on. Much less these longer aftermarket ones...

I drove the car home.. Without a shackle... Scared to drive it now... And I don't know wtf to do

Anybody???

Is this because I jacked up the differential and put it on jackstands when the wheels got off the ground as opposed to jacking up the frame and putting the jackstands on frame?

Bwuhahaha! I can see it in my mind already.

The vehicle needs to be supported at the frame so the wheels/axle can hang down freely, do not support it under the axle or pumpkin as that pushes up on the springs. A small bottle jack between the leaf spring and the frame can give you the space you need.

Exactly how it's done.

You have no idea how close you came to killing/severely injuring yourself.

Jack the truck from its frame, when the leaf is unloaded it will begin to line up for the shackle to be installed. DO NOT GET UNDER ANY PART of the vehicle.
