My Instrument lights lights won't dim
I'm driving home tonight and it is real dark out and rainy, and the light from my instrument cluster is like a flashlight in my eys. I try the pinwheel and nothing. I got home read the manual and tried turning the lights off auto and on again and still those instrument lights glared at me. The radio lights seemed to dim a bit.
So I would have to say that this will need a new reostat.
Any one else have issues with these lights as far as dimming?
Fixes?

RE: My Instrument lights lights won't dim
this is a common problem with our new colorados and canyons at our dealership as we dont really get hummers there for servicing...there is a tsb on it and it recommends that no part needs to be replaced until they can determine the cause (dec 11, 2008), a temporary solution to that in the meantime is to disconnect your battery terminals (positive and negative) and touch the leads together... hook it back up and it'll dim again....

Incredible. Thank you, and if I do try this proceedure and it works, I will get back on here and let you know.
I look at it as a safety issue, it to me is an attraction, and a distraction if you know what I mean.
Thanks once again.

Perhaps they disconnected your battery.
What should I expect if I do disconnect my battery, short the plus and minus wires to gether, and reconnect? What beside the clock do I need to reset?

I did this fix just tonight.I did have to reset the clock because of the time change anyway.
This fix did the trick, the instrument lights dim together and go to a lower brilliance than ever before.
Thanks again for this tip.
