Default My humurous modification

Well, I still have not done anything on the H3 as far as mods go. But I'm looking around at what's out there. I did do one minor mod today... I painted my drive shafts. LOL As most, or some or well.. I don't know how many of you know, or care.. but the drive shafts don't come painted from the factory. That always bugs the crap out of me. So, later on when you crawl under to change the oil, there are some nice bright orange rusty drive shafts under there. It's just one of my pet peevs. Mine were starting to get a very mild surface rust here and there, so I gave them a good wipe down with some steel wool, and primed and painted.

I feel much better now. [sm=bounceybounce.gif] Now they're nice and black .. I can rest easy. LOL

PS: It was a little bit of a pain, spraying with one hand and holding an overspray guard with the other, but I think it was worth it once it was done.

Can you show a pic? How does it drive now, meaning any vibrations?

Tommy Gavin,

I am with you on this one. It looks nasty after a few months. Did you spray or brush, and what color? Any vibrations yet? LOL

I just painted it black, with some Black rustoleum rattle cans. No vibes of course. I used some cardboard, and a paper plate (that I held) to keep overspray off the other parts, and underbody. I just hate how it's not painted and rusts up so bad. It takes forever for that bright orange to darken down. So, I always planned to get under there and paint the next new vehicle I got. I didn't have time, but it looked like th etranny pan wasn't painted either, so I'm going to have to check inot it. It may just be easier to paint it when I do the first tranny fluid change.

I'm at the fire station (vacation is over) so I won't be home until tomorrow, but I can try to get a pic then. It looks a lot better under there.

Yeah, I'm sort of **** about my vehicles. Even my trail rigs. I just figure if you take care of the little things, the big things will take care of themselves. That, .. and I just hate rust. You should never have to see a spot of rust on a new car.

OK, I know this picture probably isn't the best, but I was kneeling down on gravel, .. in shorts, so cut me some slack. It at least gets the point across.

NICE!..I guess I will now do mine...

Maybe I'll have a shaft painting party. Two to spin the shaft, while I spray the paint...But first we must polish my shaft first.

Any offers?
