Default My first h3 problems

3, actually 2 plus a goof

the goof,on my recent trip my remotes quit working,no door lock/unlock,,,? i had an obd2 scanner plugged in yo see what i could monitor on the road. obd2 in remotes out!!?? pulled obd2=ok.

next, without obd2,cruze would not turn on. later ,after stop/start it worked, still ok,,?

2nd, yesterday, stop for gas, restart, no air, fan, lights ok but hot air. stopped for 15 min visit, restart and was headed to a dealer and it got cold, fine since.

i get the creepy feeling im starting the mystery "batt terminal"intermittents. say it isnt so!!

i have been flawless for 2yrs with 2 h3, hope its over. both problems corrected themselves,i did nothing but restart.

btw,"truck city" on i 80 at pa/ohio line was $3.55. best in a while,,,thanks b.o.

I've plugged my OBD2 in with no side effects, but I didn't 'drive' with it, only sat and idled......wonder if that makes a difference?

So when your key fob went out were you able to unlock your doors with the key? Sounds like a stupid question but I dropped my h3 off the other night at the dealer, left only the key with them and locked it up with the remote. They called me up and said they couldn't get into my car with the key. Is that a factory alarm feature? Or did the previous owner have the door locks changed for some reason (as the dealer thinks that might be the case).
I don't get it back till this afternoon so I haven't been able to look into yet.

Been in the car buisness for a long time, always seem cars with keyless entry have problems with lock cylinders, because people don't ever use them. The lock cylinder freezes up, try some liquid wrench in it. Just squirt it in the cylinder and let it soak in, then work the key, usually they free up.

We also have to drive alot of vehicles to set the monitors for emissions inspection, so we always have a scanner plugged into obd, never have had any issues with stuff not working when the scanner is plugged in, almost sounds like a ground has some corrosion on it.

yeah, sure, i wonder how many times you got out and pushed the lock button,or unlock.im bettin you didnt,,,had no reason to.

and ground corrosion is another safe wild stab in the dark.
when im guessin i clearly state it so people can judge themselve.
sounds like the key didnt turn,if it did the door would prob open, how would bcm"going bad" stop it huh? if it didnt turn youd think the dealer would wiggle it and try lube, unless he dont know much about cars

Well if you didn't want anyones opinions why did you post? Take your truck to the dealer and Pay $90 an hour for some diagnostics.

The dealer probably wouldn't oil up the lock, or mess with it, because if they break either the lock or the key, they would be on the hook.

Oh and I do drive some vehicles home during drive cycles, and don't bother to unplug the scanner, And since I don't want my scanner stolen I lock the cars once home, usually using the Handy Dandy keyless remote.

i just reported my first ever problems, which went away after restart, done.
my guess is that the h3 security dont like some foreign scanners and tolerates gm scanners which are made to provide extended term ,maybe overnight diagnosis.
as for the key,i cant imagine a dealer fearful of using some officially certified gm lok lube to get the key working if he knew that they locks often freeze up from lack of key use because of the handy dandy remote fob, overuse.
only a dealer knows for sure.
