Default Mud Guards - Yay or Nay

I know it's a truck, but with only 500 miles on it, I hate the spray that gets all over the body and new paint. I can see getting the paint all chipped from stones and road debris. What are thoughts on getting the mud guards installed. I don't mind getting dirty when off-roading, but when not, I want it clean.
