Just got back last night , drove straight through from Lake Buena Vista to York, PA. 1,013 miles. Bone stock 07 H3. 5 adults , cargo area full of luggage and a hitch carrier with maybe 100 lbs on it.
At 70-72 mph I got 17.3 mpg AC on. Ethanol gas.
At 65 mph I got 19.8 AC on. Ethanol gas.
At 60-62 , no AC , no ethanol I got.....22.3 !!

Another thing to watch out for is idle time. My 07 mustang GT has a gas mileage meter and I took it down to Atlantic city (100 miles) and was getting 27MPG (being very light footed). I pulled in for a car wash and after 15 minutes of idling with the AC on I was down to 17MPG for the trip!
Another note is coasting down hills and not accelerating towards red lights. In my mustang I can get 35 MPG if I put the clutch in going down hills on my way to work but normally I get 22 MPG.
Its hard to tell whats going on in my H3 since it doesn't have real time feed back but the principles still apply. My first tank is 18MPG but I have not tried a full highway trip yet.
