Motor swap out, Good Idea?

Motor swap out, Good Idea?
SO last week my H3 apperently threw a rod and shot into the bottom of the motor and messed up the pistons and now the shop is telling me that I need a new motor.
$4500 new from GM or I can by a rebuild for less. but the labor comes to $2000.
A bit pricy... I am fairly good with cars and I have a guy that has swap out engines before and is looking forwardto wrenching on a truck again. I just wanna know from a few people whom have tried this if they think it is worth the hassel, things to look for, what motors I can put in there other than a specific H3 re build.

You can put a 3.5/3.7 from the colorado in there as well. Also if you have a 2006 you can put the 3.7 (Only year 2007 3.7L motor will swap) in there with very little needing to be changed. If I can find the thread about how easy it is to upgrade to the 3.7 I will post it up here for you.
