Default More fuel capacity?

I love my H3, but after my last truck had a 27 gal tank and got the same mileage or slightly better I'm wanting to up my range. I could drive over 500 miles to Amarillo on a tank, but the Hummer won't and I miss that. Has anyone tried larger/auxiliary/anything tanks to up capacity that doesn't look Jethro with Jerry Cans hanging off the roof draining into the tanks?

I remembered a thread on elcova where a guy had built a custom tank that is basically under the right rear seat. Of course, his truck was lifted pretty high and he had to reroute the exhaust so it may not even be feasible for a stock heigth truck.

Anywho, here is a link. Custom fuel tank is the second pic.

Well you could see if a H3T fuel tank would work? They are larger than the H3s... Or maybe a fuel cell off the main line could do the trick...

I thought about the H3T tank, but I believe the frame where the tank sits is lengthened there giving more room for the larger tank. I could be wrong, but thought someone had mentioned that a while back. I may have to custom fab a tank somewhere that won't get bashed around offroad.

Yeah your prob right about the H3T tank, just throwing it out there... if you really wanted to keep it up and out of the way... ive seen, including a friend of mine's H3 w/ custom exhaust, he got a single flowmaster muffler welded up just just before the rear axle and routed the exhaust from there... removing the stock muffler opens up that location immensely and isn't too far from the main tank either... with alittle know how a fuel cell would fit... Ive seen a few guys use that trick for a serious on board air location... so why not a fuel cell?

Hey, thats a good idea! I hadn't thought about movimg the exhaust around. That may just be the ticket.
