Is this just the head unit, or for the whole system?

I'm kind of a NOOB, but I believe the Monsoon has a visible amp in the back of the truck on the left side. It's kind of a square box built into the
side compartment....

I got a Monsoon in my H3 but I haven't seen any square box at the back of my truck that looks like an amplifier. Maybe I'm wrong.

The Monsoon system has an amp/subwoofer in the rear, on the left side. If your GF's truck has two storage compartments back there (one on each side), she doesn't have Monsoon. If there is storage on right and speaker on left, it is Monsoon.

And, by the way, nice choice of girlfriend.

Either you do not know what to look for or you got doped into buying a lemon With the monsoon system, you will have a storage compartment on the passanger side of the trunk/storage space. On the left/driver side there will be kind of openings/ventilation system in the plastic liner of the car, that's where the sub is. Turn the sound on and you will hear the bass come out of it.

Just wondering, what nav unit did u install ? I just got an avic f700bt installed and originally my volume was very low and I thought the same. But after some adjustments the sound is now better then with the monsoon, crispier.
