4x4 works. It's just not like what I expected.
I took it out into my yard today for its first off road test, climb my embankment to the road.
Also threw a P0300 code this evening on a 100 mile trip. Looks like the replacement heads are no better than the original ones. At about 80K it had the head replaced, about 60K miles later it's throwing the code that normally ends up being a bad valve. Bummer.

if you see snow again you will see how 4 hi with open diffs and traction control works really well.
yes ive been stuck but i am practicing and i can really push thru reasonably deep stuff with a steady slow speed. i can feel it digging,AND moving.
i notice that wheels always break free in any lock mode without tr control.
no spare huh. i never have flats anymore but i still dont go anywhere wo a spare!

I'm working on that. There is a person on Craigslist with wheels for $400. I'm trying to see if he will sell one at a time. Or I can buy them online from wheel reconditioning places for $250 each.

p0300 is a generic missing code. I had the same thing happen in mine, but it was just the number 4 cyl. and it was missing enough to throw a code. It just wasn't missing enough to register which cyl. it was coming from. mine ended up being a bad coil pack

Since I cleared the code, I hope I can get it to come back prior to the H3 going in for Diagnostics next week.
I had been looking for people online talking about failure of the warranty replaced cylinder head and I am not finding them. Hopefully the head is not damaged and the remanufactured head that was installed will last a long long time like a normal engine is expected to.

Hummerz, today when I got home from work (22 mile drive in half stop and go and half 60mph Highway) I say in the driveway for 10 minutes in Park with the engine running. No light yet.
I do note that when in gear and stopped at a light, there is a slight roughness to the idle. There is no flutter or fluctuation in the idle speed once it settles. This may be a normal feel as I've never had a non V-8 V-6 engine prior to this I-5.
When coming to a stop, like at a stop sign in town when your going block to block and stopping, you notice that at the instant just before you cease movement, the RPMs dip a bit lower (450-500) than idle (600 or so) and there is a shudder in the engine before the engine raises back to a steady 600 or so (indicated on the gage) and remains constant but with that mentioned slight stutter/roughness that is felt while in gear and stopped.
Also observed is that song in the driveway running in Park, the idle is smooth and does not flutter, fluctuate or have any roughness.
I may have gotten a freak engine code, and I may be comparing the feel of an I-5 to my experiences with V-6 and V-8 engines. So it is entirely possible that I'm over reacting.
