where should the map be in a after-market cia?

MAP sensor or MAF sensor two very different sensors. You might want to be more specific. I would guess and say MAF sensor which is between the filter and TB (Throttle Body). Usually in an aftermarket CAI there is a place to put your stock sensorback into the airflow path.

A MAP sensor(manifold absolute pressure sensor) which monitors intake vacuum pressure to adjust your ignition timing.

A MAF sensor (mass airflow sensor)which monitors the volume of air entering the engine to measure both airflow and air density.
