limited power, no dealer around!!!
Hi to everybody! My H2 reduced power for some reason, it won't allow more than 3000 - 4000 rpms, the Malfunction indicator Lamp (Check Engine Light) is on steady. I live in Russia and, oh, the closest dealer is 2000 km away in Moscow and I have no opportunity to drive my H2 so far right now. May be some hints to what it could be I will be grateful.I do remember that when it asked for oil change it reduced the speed to 15-20 km/h but right now it is different. I apologize for my mistakes since I am not native speaker.
My H2 is 2003 .
Thanks a lot.

Can you find someone with a GM code reader? Service stations or auto parts companies that service any GM vehicles should be able to hook up a reader to the data port located under the dashboard. If you can find out what the trouble code is, post it back on this website and we can go through GM sevice manuals and find a way for you to fix it.

RE: limited power, no dealer around!!!
Thank you for the attention to my problem. I have Hypertech Power Programmer and people who know how to use it , but they have no clue how to "read" (interpret) the data from it, if I look the code of error on this Hypertech Power Programmer and place the data here will it be enough, or I misunderstood you and the named above device is inappropriate to the occasion?

If you have the hypertech programmer, you don't need anyone else to do it for you. the connector is under the steering wheel, on the left side, bottom of knee panel. plug in the programmer, turn it on and turn the key to run, but don't start your engine. make sure the parking brake is set, so your running lights don't come on. the programmer will scan the codes and you'll be able to write them down. once it rolls through all your codes, it will ask if you want to clear them, don't (programmer will shut down when you press "NO"). post them up and we can tell you what they mean and possibly some options to remedy them. or, you could clear them and see if the truck returns to normal power, but personally i'd rather know what the codes mean before clearing them.

The vortec v8's I believe have a safety "feature" to where if the coolant is low or non-existant the engine will continue to run at reduced power levels. Is it possible this could be the reason behind it!? Stuck thermo or something!?!? Just a thought.
