I have been wondering... does anyone know if there are any good LED light bars out there? The reason I ask is that LED technology has really come a long way. What was once a barely visible light in daylight is now a technology used in police / fire lightbars. The department I work for has gone away from traditional "bulbed" lightbars on the police cars to "LED" lightbars.

Initially, when people heard, they were very skeptical that in daylight they would be visible at all. Well, I think they look great and the lightbars function very well in daylight (in my opinion) and at night they are almost blinding.

The reason for the change is simple... power conservation.

The new LED lightbars use a fraction of the power of the old style lightbars. Many of the patrol cars had so much stuff using power (lightbar, spotlight, MDB (computers), radio, various plug in items the officers use, mini light from the MDB, flashlight chargers,etc.) that the mechanics were having to do a lot of work to keep them going. Electrical failures, fast battery drain, etc. I am hearing nothing but good things from the mechanics and most officers alike, a few complain about daylight visibility not being that great, but I personally like them.

So what do you think? Are there any LED light bars made for off road vehicles, if so I would like to hear about it, if not I bet there would be a good market for them. Especially considering they new LEDs work GREAT at night.

Do a search for LED. Someone posted here a while back about a new type of
LED off road lighting system that was supposed to be crazy bright. However,
if I remember correctly, they were priced crazy high as well. If I get some time
later, I might try the search myself....They had a web site listed also......

OK SKIPPY............How about a damn close-up of that light bar and perhaps

here you go this is how i mounted it straight to the plastis with the 50mm spacer to get as low as possible
and believe it or not i am affraid of the dark

Any thoughts as to how you are going to wire that bad boy up?

Switches, placement, wire routes...etc...etc....etc.....

Now all you need are two more for the back and the aluminum tray.......

Afraid of the dark? Three batteries? Shoot them lights will be so bright you will be able to see into the future! That is an awesome job as I been playing around with almost the same type bar. Looks great and your Hummer looks awesome as it is one of the nicest yellow ones I ever seen,Mike
