I haven't driven my truck in a few days and when I went out into the garage to start it I found that I had a dead battery... and now the key won't come out of the ignition. Is this normal? When I get juice to it will it let go of the key? Thank goodness I park it inside so I don't have it sitting out in the driveway with a key in it.

 

Yes when you get the new battery you will get the key out.
This is a safety feature so you can not loose the key when your battery is dead

Songman, that is exactly what happened to my H3 when the battery died. Put charger on the battery, key instantly freed. No doubt it is an undocumented feature, designed to test the driver's vocabulary for profanity.

 

I was just kidding which is why I tried to put the there.

 

Thanks ya'll... Figured (and hoped) that's what it was. Still haven't done it yet but nice to know it won't be a problem.

 

It worked. As soon as I put the battery charger on my key got paroled!
