My impression is "More responsive"...I suppose that means some more power from somewhere..

Chevy..Let me axe you this..

Tonight while I was sitting in line at a drive through in neutral and idling...I noticed that all of a sudden I would get this sort of dips in RPM and or a hesitation, but every so often, it would dip and hesitate then back to normal for a few seconds and do it again and again...It ran fine when I gassed it or stompted it or put it into D...When I got home and put it in Park, same thing again...I went under the hood to see or hear anything strange and I noticed my K&N Air filter had fallen off the neck piece..As soon as I put it back on the rough idle if you will, settled down and idled smoothly as always...I continued to monitor it for a few more minutes and no problems again..I took the air filter back off and the problem reappear slightly, but not as much....

Any Ideas?

I figure it maybe a MAF thing trying to readjust for the more air it's getting or since the filter was off, a turbulence was happening around the MAF and not reading the air flow right.
Had the very same issue on the Avalanche after filter coming off. Think you are on to something with the MAF on this. I would think it the added O2 would lean the mixture out if anything. Not sure if it tries to readjust the mixture in any way but the symptoms are identical.

my local Sunoco loves me!!! They know me and my wife by name and I get free coffee anytime I want. My dually was getting a little over 4 MPG, the owner of the gas station offered to give me free tuneups cause his daughter just entered college and he needed my truck to keep running

I agree with your idea. The K&N air filter actually provides enough restriction to convert the air flow from turbulent to laminar. The smoother laminar air improves the MAF reading because it's sampled air is proportional to the whole air flow. MAFs used to be a separate part that was inserted into the airflow and had a fine screen in the front to smoothen out the air (change from turbulent to laminar). I think the uneven air flow created some problems with your MAF reading and caused unsteady idle. Smooth idle is pretty tough to control, and any unmetered air effects the stability.

Thanks Chevy..I knew you'd have the answer with the technical support for it
