Just missed a 30 car pile up!
I was driving home from shopping yesturday in a "white out" condition about 50 MPH and right in front of me traffic comes to a dead stop! I only had about 50 feet to react, I was in the right lane and just lightly touched the brakes and steered off to the shoulder! Almost lost my H3! I passed about 6 to 8 cars before I came to a stop! It turns out it was a freakin' gaulker delay!!! They were all stopping to see the 30 car pile up on the northbound lane of the E-way! ******** almost caused another pile up! I was suprised at how well the H3 braked and handled in that situation! Even if I would have had to go to the ditch, I'm sure I could have just drove out! I am so glad we decided to take the H3 and not my winter ride, or I probably wouldn't have a winter ride in one piece today!

RE: Just missed a 30 car pile up!
The white out conditions were coming and going, I was slowing from my 65 MPH pace just as I came up on the stopped cars. There was nobody within sight before the whiteout, so I thought I had plenty of time to slow down... WRONG!
I have been refered to as a crazy driver before, but I have never been in an accident, or even had a ticket on my license in over 22 years of driving. I have done quite a bit of racing on both 2 and 4 wheels, so I consider myself an above average driver. My Dad taught me a lot, he used to race against a couple of NASCAR boys in go karts before he had to stop to raise a family and pay for his way thru college (3 degrees worth from U of M).
