I just bought an H1 about a month ago and cant get it running? Anyone local to Irvine CA that could take a look at it for me?

When I bought it, it needed front and rear brakes and a rear passenger half shaft. After 5 mechanics and 4 tows, I think the rear half shaft is finally in correctly. But now my rear brakes left a puddle of fluid on my driveway when I pulled up my parking brake so I still have never driven this thing...

Not too mention after the last mechanic changed my oil and coolant, now my check engine light is on when I start it up?!?!

Help!

FYI: Looks like one of the caliper brake lines was threaded directly into the caliper instead of the adapter that it needed to seat properly to the caliper... it is a $2.90 part. So no help needed.

 

I live in Texas.. not sure who is working on your Hummer.. but it sounds like maybe you are bringing it to some 'back yard' mechanics that have no place working on them. Try finding a hummer dealer around you.. an H1 half shaft replacement is about the easiest job on that truck.. not sure why they are having such trouble. And its not starting? Is your glow plug relay working? have you checked the fluids your 'mechanic' said they changed?

They have some of the only H1 mechanics in the area and Mike S is the best anywhere. They are also one of the few AM General approved service and parts stores in the country. The dealership isn't 15 minutes from you.

 

Could you please elaborate a bit on what it does / doesn't do when you try to start it?

Is it a Turbo or NA? does it crank? Does it cough? Any smoke? What color is the smoke?

I'd very strongly encourage you to get it looked at by the folks at Tustin Biuck / GMC, they know their H1's.
