Interesting: Mechanics rejected installing Winter Tires
I went to COSTO yesterday and wanted to buy a set of winter tires for my 08 Alpha. They had a $70 off promotion now which makes the deal decent. The guy there searched their database and told me the only one suits my truck was Michelin X-Ice snow tire. I read good reviews about it. However, the guy asked me whether I did a lot of mountain driving in winter. I'm living in Colorado. I told him I used my truck mostly for local communication. OK. Then he said he guaranteed I wouldn't have any trouble with my stock tires. He said the snow tires didn't perform better than my stock tires. He could order the tires for me while he strongly suggested me just kept my current tires. He said he drived a pickup for 11 years without any snow problem and my truck should be much better then his. I'm glad hearing that but also surprised. As I know, snow tires should always help. Am I too careful?

It certainly is all about the tires, and the driver and the vehicle.
I have found the stock tires can be a bit greasy at times in the snow, but I wouldn't go out and buy all new tires to compensate.
I would if I lost all confidence in the stock tires and I was constantly going off the road or slipping all over and getting stuck, but I have non of those issues.
Just use caution and take it easy, the H3 is a great vehicle and you can get into trouble very easy because it makes you feel so invulnerable.
I'll replace to a little more aggressive thread when I wear the stock tires out.
I would have to say the gentleman at Cosco saved you some money.

I replaced stock goodyears with winter Cooper's Disc. m+s couple of months ago, and I have noticed quite a few differences!!
Much more better on ice and way much better on thick snow!
Same car, same driver.(In normal snow conditions the 4HL is now rarely used, the wheels stopped spinning like crazy)
