Default Installing a 9 Ft. Military Vehicle Whip Antenna on my H2

Hello Friends,
I am in the process of retrofitting and installing a Military Vehicle Whip Antenna onto my H2.
I will post photos upon completion.
This type of Antenna is the type mounted on heavy military trucks.
It is almost 9 feet long and it has a special fiber rope which fastens to the tip and it pulls the tip of the antenna down and forms the antenna into a half loop or circle and ties down to the chasis of the vehicle.
You may have seen these types of antennas in war photos or movies.
Just a reminder, the photos are coming soon of my H2 fully equipped with custom installed front and rear Military BLACKOUT LIGHTS.
As usual your coments, opinions and questions are always appreciated!

Default RE: Installing a 9 Ft. Military Vehicle Whip Antenna on my H2

I have been looking for a way to mount a 4 or 6 ft whip. I already installed the CB and PA horn, but at a loss as to where to mount the whip. My wife wont let me drill holes in our H2 so it leaves me little choice. We have the spare tire mount, so it may have to go there.

When you get yours installed, be sure to post some pics, thanks!

Hello Friends,
I am also not comfortable with defacing or drilling holes.
I am in the process of designing an antenna mount which will use the existing screws on the H2.
It will go fastened along with the bolts that hold the right hood guide.
There a two hood guides. There is a left side and right side hood guide.
The right hood guide is bolted with three bolts to the H2 chasis and is situated or located next to the left of the plastic mesh cover for the air breather intake under the hood.
When completed, I will post photos.
(Also the Military Blackout Light photos coming soon!)

Hi Safari H2:

where are you mounting the 9ft Milatary Antenna at on the h2 ????

I recently instaled a 106 Inch wip cb antenna using the trailer hitch mount, where the ball would go....it works out great there and the SWR,s are around .5

Rick.......

Great idea, hope to see pics of that soon. I have a box full of stainless steel mounts I have used over the years on my boats. I could cut one down and drill holes to match the hood buckels, but I wouldn't want too large of an antenna on it. Wouldn't want it flopping around at highway speeds and hitting the Hummer.

Hello friends,
Just to clarify,
The custom made bracket will go attached to the under hood right side guide NOT to the buckels.
I will post photos upon completion.
If I am not sucessful then I'll design somthing to attach to the rear spare tire holder as I did with the BLACKOUT lights.
This type of antenna is equipped with a special nylon rope to fasten it down from the tip and it will form a half circle. This will keep it from flopping around.
I am not sure if it will work with my AM/FM radio or my C.B. radio.
If that is the case then I'll have to open the base of the antenna and try to rewire it.
But....over all.....it will look awesome!

UPDATE:
I just received the antenna mounting bracket from an eBay sale.
It is bigger than what I expected.
So it seems that most likley the front right side mounting idea is no good.
It would look too pronounced.
NO PROBLEM!...I may have to go with installing it on my rear spare tire mount.
I will post photos upon completion.
