I-5 vs Alpha offroad question...

RE: I-5 vs Alpha offroad question...
A lot of what I was saying will beoffset when the performance mods start to fly for the Alpha. I can mod the I5 and get very close, but once you PCM tune, Cat back, and intake the Alpha, well you get the idea. With 8 cylinders breathing, a intake and Cat back will do more with the Alpha than the impact they have on the I5 IMO.
I would seriuosly consider the Alpha if I could get it the way I want it..........Just like what I have, add a V8, skip the rest of the bells and whistles.

Docs, I understand where you're coming from, thats why I said advertised curb weight. Let me go weigh it so we can compare it that way. My 4-wheeler is advertised to weigh 600 lbs, I don't believe that either.
Are the tracks still open up there. If not, theres a few tracks close by if you want to head south.

Ok Docs, just got back from weighing the Alpha. Me, 1/4 tank of fuel, factory 33's, factory rocker protection with removable steps, upgraded skid plate protection, roof rails, tow package, a few misc. stuff inside and no brush gaurd. The cat scale tells me it is a plump 5280. Just weighed myself on the home scale, 180 lbs. Take my weight off and we're at 5180.
Your H3 4840bs/242= 20 lbs per hp
My H3 5180lbs/300=17.27 lbs per hp
Thats about as accurate one can get without putting both trucks on the same scale.

Never offroaded the I5 but tires and drivers are two huge factors. Also off roading is more about control than hitting the pedal and going. How does your brothers off raod experience compare to yours?

Ah, but I had a 1/4 tank more of Gas!!! And that blasted rag. So they are pretty close to the Hummer stated weight. See we learned somethin. I do not think 3# per HP ratio gain is a biggy, but it all is...
There......I likes that better.

Did I screw that up Import. Should have triple checked before posting.
I was going to fill the tank before weighing, but didn't like the no name station.
Looking at it another way, the Alpha would have to weigh6000 lbs to reach 20 lbs per hp.
