In all honesty where do you see this brand going , with fuel prices going up ect....

Just wondering, since I'm going to interview at a Hummer dealer on friday. If I would get the offer I just want to make sure they are in it for the long haul. I work in a corp.world in sales and have done very well. I'm burned out on it and want to do something I have a passion for and it would be selling Hummers. Lucky for me I'm in a good financial position to do that. I also work for the Fed.Govt. so I also have that income coming in too.

I've heard of a smaller version coming out to which shoulld help it's long term marketability , any truth in that ?

i was under the impression the H3 was the smaller version.

The Hummer has been knocked by environmental groups for its fuelish ways, but don't expect a hybrid gas-electric version of this General Motors SUV anytime soon.

"Should we immediately go and get on the hybrid bandwagon? No, that's not appropriate for us," said Susan Docherty, general manager of the Hummer Division.

"We need to be true to what we are from a Hummer standpoint. We're a real masculine, rugged, irreverent brand," she said Tuesday.

Hummer's sales are up 87 percent to 42,657 this year through October, thanks to the popularity of the new H3, the brand's smallest model. But fuel economy is not among the top 10 issues buyers have when considering a 6,400-pound H2 and is only ranked 10th for owners of the H3, Docherty said. The H3 gets up to 20 miles per gallon.

Personally i think all the fue efficient hybrids are gay. Screw that dring a little crapy ugly car cause it gets good milege. They are expensive too. There not going to work out anyway. People need to stop rushing to buy them. Hummer actuall has 2 hydrogen powerd hummers driving around. I think they are the only ones going in the right direction. Getting tottally off gass. And ethanol is crap too. It will just drive up the demand for something we really dont have a lot of. corn. HUMMER will be around forever.

as long as there is a need for an suv, which there always will be I do not see Hummer going anywhere. I don't get the knock on gas mileage that people seem to give the h3 either. anywhere from 16-18 seems to the norm in mixed city highway, compared to grand cherokee, tahoe, expedition, explorer I think the h3 compares rather well. I can personally tell you from experiance that my tahoe got 15mpg with 35's around 17 with the stock lil 265's. My grand cherokee with the 4.0 I6 got a best of 19 and averaged around 15 with 31's. My brothers envoy XL got 21 on a trip to florida and rides like a caddy but IMO is more of a 4 wheel drive mini-van than a true SUV. I'm sure if the tree huggers do get more legislation crap approved then GM will start putting a small diesel in the h3 or even h4 by then. Honestly I would rather sacrifice gas mileage and drive my h3 and feel like my family is safe then get 50 mpg in a prius and know that one wrong turn or one guy not paying attention could kill us.

Fallz, forget the mileage BS how many people do you see walking and bicycling? I live in LA and everyone complains but no one does anything about it. Half my office drives Tahoes, suburbans, RR, Mercs and BMW's. It's all talk. People are adjusting to the new energy prices. I see more and more 7 foot tall pickups with 37's everyday here. I just don't see it here. Go sell Prius if you are concerned.

If you're into off-road, Hummer is probably the place to be right now since Range Rover seems to be evolving into Street Rover.

Other benefits of starting with Hummer include a simpler product lineup (few models) to master. all of which are high margin. Another advantage is that Hummer dealers are few and far between so you can avoid a lot of inter-store competition issues.

Are you interviewing with an exclusive point? If so, you'll never have to be worried about driving the "dog" in the demo fleet!

Hummerguy, I don't want to sell Prius....... Just wondering what people's thought's were on where the company's going that's all.

I've alway's been an off road fan , I honestly became really interested in Hummer when the H3 was introduced.

Hi everyone, I'm new here, but I've been around a while. I think that Hummer is going to be the brand of SUV for the next decade or so. People buy SUV's because they want something rugged, and cool. It doesn't matter if they never take it off-road, they could. All the other brands that used to build vehicles like that have stopped doing it. Jeep's suck now, just look at the Grand Cherokee minivan looking thing, I wouldn't take that down a rutted trail. The Liberty? Give me a break, I've never seen a gayer vehicle. As for Land Rover, well it isn't built to go off-road anymore either, and it looks it. It definately doesn't look like it could deal with my driveway, let alone the back 40. And anyone that buys one wouldn't want to try it either. So we pretty much have the market. I can't wait for Hummer to build the 2 door to blow the Wrangler away!
