Default Hummer H2 Rear swing tire carrier installation

Hey all, I'm the proud owner of a passed down 2003 Hummer H2 from my father, however it was never equipped with a rear mounted swing carrier for the spare tire, I've been looking at a few that are GM OEM ones on Kijiji for really good prices, but I have no idea how I'd install it, because as far as I know they don't just bolt in over the existing tow hooks. Or do they?

If anyone could provide any insight on this for my that'd be great! thanks!

It pretty much bolts right up. The tow hooks are connected to the carrier (not separate). Clasp/locking unit on left side connected with two bolts and the rest is on the other side.

How much are they going for? I personally hate them. I took mine off within 5 minutes of getting it home from the dealership.

Hi just make sure the tire carrier comes with the lic plate plastic part. Also you will have to wire the lic plate light. The right side of the tire carrier has 3 bolts and your truck has only 2 holes i think, you should drill the hole and add the other bolt. Hope this helps.

They're all over the place on craigs, backpage, ebay, anywhere. You'll pay a pretty penny though.

I need one also. I see there is a guy on ebay who custom fabricates these hummer tire carriers for around 500 bucks.

Light bulb moment.

I must consult with a local steel fabricator business in town here and throw down the question, can you do this? and for how much. I want one on the back of my monster excursion as well.
