Default Quick $1.00 Fix

1) Remove shaft from transmission.
2) Grind off existing stud.
3) Drive out with a punch.
4) Insert 1/4"-20 carriage bolt (I had to round off the square flange under the carriage head).
5) Insert washer, nylon spacer, washer, nut.
6) Cut bolt to length.
7) Reinstall.

After being quoted $70 at the parts counter for the entire cable assembly I decided to fix this myself. I bought the nylon spacer at Lowes in the fasteners section. It has a 0.25" hole and the OD is 0.40". I recommend using a lock nut of some sort so it does not back out. I used the carriage bolt for clearance on the back side.

There is no real load on this assembly and what I did won't break in a couple of years.

Took me about an hour with simple hand tools.

Good luck!

Today i was manage to get my car back from Abu Dhabi cITY centre, thanks to the HummerForumers for the guides and ideas... I didnt get the cable replace instead i clamp the broken joint with the clamper just like the one which i googled in the web. I drove to american autoparts in Musaffah Industrial area
and ordered the set with total cost AED260.It will take 2 days,no problem for me but my joy was temporary when my H2 cannot start once again...

to make matter worse,it was parked inside Mall basement parking area and mall authority will fines (AED1000) for any car which is parked for more than 12hrs + now is hot summer season in Abu Dhabi (48degC) .... I called recovery agency to tow my H2 but they cannot do it because its agaist Mall policy to bring Tow truck to basement parking area....so i left no choice but to look for mechanic.

I;ve noticed BLUE LED on the left corner dash of driver side was blinking. It was never before...
I was in doubt what is that light means?... Does it contribute to why my H2 WONT start? But after sometimes the mechanic manage to start my H2 by doing "Direct Wired the STARTER RELAY

[ATTAC

to the + BATT". I've paid AED500 for the jobs done...hurm... but the blue LED light still blinking... He advice me to get my car complete check-up to find the culprit. What does the LED means actually?

Well...hurm...i manage to get my car home... i drive for 300km with clamped shifter cable

overall...what a great day... i'm waiting for the ideas on the question above...

God Bless All

Can you take a picture of the blue LED and post? It sounds like an aftermarket alarm system indicator. My dash has no LED's.

Problem solved. Check my other thread here. https://www.hummerforums.com/forum/h...t-start-31464/

U can try the mentioned steps.Mine is from VIPER alarm. I think all aftermarket alarm system have VELET Switch located somewhere in the car(mine was in dash fuse box)
