I am looking for a vehicle that I can drive in the rain, deep snow, and offroad. I want it to be asafe vehicle since accidents are more likly as weather conditions worsen. I am considering an M35A2/A3 Deuce and half, 1995 Ford F150, 1980-2009 Chevy Suburban, Dodge Ram of some type, a Jeep, Ford Excursion, or other similar vehicle. It would also be nice if the vehicle could serve as a hunting cabin and shelter for a diaster situation.

What makes any of these vehicles better for deep snow, ice etc; other than the obvious width and fitting on trails factor?

What makes a Hummer H1 better than a regular truck? I though the extra weight would get it stuck easier?

I want something that has a long range on the single tank of fuel. What year Hummer H1 has the largest fuel tank? How many MPG city/highway does an H1 get? How large is the H1 tank?

How much leg room does a Hummer H1 have compared to a Ford F150?

What is the top speed of an H1?

 

Hummers came with one tank ( 92-95), two tanks 42 gallon capacity total ( 96-04 ) and two tanks 52 gallon capacity ( 06 ) Average highway for me is 13-14 mpg and city is 11-12 mpg. Range is over 500 miles. Front seat H1 leg room is good, back seat is ok. None of the vehicles mentioned above is in the same league as an H1 for climbing, fording, mud, etc. Once again top mph will vary with engine and tranny configuration. In my 97 I have been up to about 83 on the highway. The 06 will cruise at 80 all day long with no problem. The 95 NA will probably comfortably top out at 65 mph for a long highway trip.

 

I have an 06' F150 and a 2000 H1. The truck is way more comfortable than the Hummer. After that, it's all H1. The H1 has way more power, ground clearance, and fuel capacity.

The fact that the entire drivetrain is enclosed on the H1, takes away from seat room for the passengers. However, the rest of the interior is like a living room on wheels, It is the ideal shelter vehicle. Most come with a television too. .
