Hummer drivers - Beware of compacts !
#11
The little car did as it was designed, it drops the engine on the ground at high impact to keep it from landing in the passenger compartment.
I have been to many motor vehicle accidents that twenty years ago would have been fatal and yet the passengers all received very minor injuries, and were ambulatory directly after the crash. Their cars looked horrible and had to be removed from the scene in two pieces or more, yet the passengers were safe.
The H2 was broadsided and no doubt at a high speed, side impacts are a different story entirely. Not much protection there. The side air bags may have inflated once, but when the H2 rolled its passengers had only one shot at the air bags, and then they probably received their injuries after the roll.
