Default How often do you send your H3 for maintenance?

Hi guys, I just have 2.9k miles on my new H3 alpha. After check the owner book, there is nowhere talking about the exact milage when the maintenance is required. I have a old ford focus and I send it for maintenance every 3k miles although the ford owner book says 5k. I just checked the engine oil and it is still close to the full end. No service light on. What is the best time to send it for maintenance? 3k, 5k, or even 7.5k(from Edmunds.com)? Thanks in advance.

I assume you are referring to oil changes. Look in your manual under Oil Life Monitor. The truck will let you know via the DIC when the change is needed.

Mine only has 5800 miles on it and already had 2 oil changes and the tires rotated. Oil changes arent that costly, but a new engine is.

are you sure you are looking correctly? should be in the car's booklets with the car.
its once a year or every 10000km's. which converts to 6.2miles. unless its in extreme conditions or you use it for offroading, which halves that time or k's.

That's overkill in my opinion. Modern engines and lubricants have both advanced quite a bit since the "good ol' days". Follow the oil life monitor and you'll be fine.

It may be overkill but i never have owned a veh. where i let the oil go over 3000 miles.
the last oil change was after a 1900 mile road trip in the heat of the summer with the avg. speeds of over 70 mph. i'm sure the oil was broke down enough to change, but then its my veh, my choice.

I usually start planning to take it in for service when my onstar diagnostics measures oil life below 40%. This is usually well over 5,500 miles. I just can't get past my old school feelings on this. Back in the day I used to do oil changes every 3,000 - 4,000 miles. I just have a hard time accepting every 8,000 - 10,000 miles on regular oil.

I waited for my oil light notification on the DIC when I got mine and it never went off. I ended up changing it around 6,500 miles that first time then after that I've kept track myself. Now the DIC seems to work and I think it goes off around 3,000-3,500 miles. Maybe I needed to do the oil change reset process when I got it?
