How long will it take for your H3 to cool down?
Hi all,
I have a 08 Alpha and each time I drove it, it is like an oven.
The H3 is always parked in my garage: the coolest room in my home, avg temp <70, even in the hottest days. Each time if I drove the truck more than 30 minutes and came back home, it started to emit heat. Normally it took 4-5 hours to cool down. After 4 hours, if I opened the hood, I could still feel the engine is warm. And then my garage became the hottest room in my home.
I can also hear some sound under the body after I stepped out of the truck. The sound was like you drop water in a hot pan and the water boiled quickly.
The H3 has been taken to the dealer once and the dealer said it was normal. Checked the coolant level several times and it looks OK. Another dealer is 80 miles away. I'd like to hear your advice before I drove there.
Thanks,

I will take several hours for an engine to cool completely down especially in a closed garage. The sound you hear is likely the AC condensate dripping on the exhaust system or your sunroof drains doing the same.

The sizzlig sound you hear is definitely the a/c evaporator running down by the exhaust. And yes it will take time for the engine to cool down it will take longer when all boxed in a gargae due to lack of air flow. Also keep in mind you have a V-8 shoved under that hood and its a little bit of a tight fit so that has a lot of mass to cool down
